Arenanet (Devoloper of Guild Wars 2) Breaks Public disclosure Law Multiple Times On Reddit. Update.

Public disclosure(Source)

Public disclosure of private facts arises where one person reveals information which is not of public concern, and the release of which would offend a reasonable person. Unlike libel or slander, truth is not a defense for invasion of privacy. Disclosure of private facts includes publishing or widespread dissemination of little-known, private facts that are non-newsworthy, not part of public records, public proceedings, not of public interest, and would be offensive to a reasonable person if made public.

(Reddit Source)

Account information of any type is private and there for not of public concern.

Update: Kripp was personally apologized to by a high up rep at ANet for there actions and his account banning as been downgraded back to its original 72 hours. Watch his latest video here.

Doesnt stop the fact they broke the law but im sure it made him feel a little better

    • In Patch 5.0.4 and beyond, the majority of your character's Achievements, pets, and mounts will be shared with your other characters.
    • Please read: Bringing Achievements to the Account Level, by Greg "Ghostcrawler" Street
  • World Event: Attack on Theramore Isle
    • Warchief Garrosh, obsessed with assuring the Horde’s supremacy over Kalimdor, launches an all-out attack against Jaina's island home of Theramore. Though valiant Alliance defenders rush to repel the sudden onslaught, they’ll soon find themselves unprepared for the terrible scope of Garrosh's true plans…
    • This Scenario will become available in the weeks leading up to the launch of Mists of Pandaria on September 25.
  • AOE Looting
    • Area of effect looting comes to World of Warcraft with this patch. After killing a group of enemies in close proximity, when you loot one of their corpses, the loot window will include items from all of the nearby corpses for which you have loot rights.
  • BattleTag support in World of Warcraft
    • Players who have enabled their BattleTag will now be able to:
      • See BattleTag friends in your friends list.
      • Add and remove BattleTag friends.
      • Send BattleTag invites to other players via right-click.
  • Cross-Realm Zones
    • In some zones, players are now able to form a group with other players from a select pool of realms.
    • When a player is in a zone that is set as a “cross-realm zone”, in addition to seeing other players from their native realm, they’ll also seamlessly see (and be able to play with) players from other realms.
    • Players will always be able to group and quest as they normally would with players from their native realm.

    • All characters now take 40% less damage from other players.

  • A menu item that reveals various game files and folders in Finder has been added.

Patch 5.0.4 Is Now Up For Download Update: Possible error fixes

First off copy your addons folder and save it somewhere else other than the warcraft folder in case there are any issue while download/install is happening.

Next you have to reconfigure game files this happens automatically but may take up to a hour to complete. If your downloader seems stuck at a certain percentage don't freak out it's still working. As this step takes so long it's best to get it done this morning if possible.

Then you can update your addons this is a major patch all of your addons will be broken Curse Client is a fast, no hassle way to get this done.

Expect a delay in the estimated time servers come back up, this is a systems patch more than anything.  If you expect a delay you'll be less annoyed.

As with every patch we will be here with updates as delays happen and/or servers come up and there will be a live stream of all the new toys.

(If it still doesn't download check out these possible fixes.)

"failed to read a required file."

Delete your folders

Try deleting the folders.

**Note** you will need to enable hidden files and folders on your system in order to see the Program Data folder.

How to show hidden files!
Ok this didn't work the first time i had him try it, but i had him try again and it worked!
So if it doesn't work the first time for this error try again, it seems to be the required fix.

Bahska's Patch 5.0.4/Mists of Pandaria Restoration And Balance Guides.

Bahska's Restoration and Balance Guides

Probably some of the most in depth guides i have ever written during some of the most stressful times of my life but i spent all day yesterday and this morning finishing them up, so here you go :D

Balance has changed a ton in this patch, restoration not so much but there are a few things that have changed. Most notably:

  • Ironbark
  • Intellect no longer increases your mana pool
  • A more Mists of pandaria change but still not worthy Symbiosis talent
  • And of course the talent tree changes in general.

Sadly i only really know these two specs and do to time constraints i was unable to get other people to right guides for there classes/specs if you know of other in depth guides for patch 5.0.4 or Mists of Pandaria feel free to leave them with a link in the comments.

Patch 5.0.4 Releases this week

Im gonna forward you to MMO-Champions write up, not being lazy. They have done a fantastic job with there write up and you should go read there's because its better than anything i would have done.
however we will have a live stream going as soon as servers go live.

I may add a few video's here and there to this post though and you can go over to for many more Pandaria video's i'll be uploading a ton more over the course of the day.

Also as you can see we have been streamlining the site a bit to make it load faster, gone are the video players at the bottom of the page (No one looked at them anyway) and the almost never used radio player. Added is obviously the scrolling text that links to better radio streams and the YouTube page plus a lot more. (Scrolling text bar will have many many more features then whats currently there, this is the beta version)

One of the biggest complaint's has been the loading and i agree, some of it is out of my hands but these changes should fix a lot of the back end issues users were receiving.

And yes we are working on a Mists of Pandaria version of the current header, you can expect that released a week or so before the expansion.

Hope everyone has fun with all the new stuff :)

Mists of Pandaria Cinematic Trailer

I'm going to quote Domitrix on the WoW forums since this person hit the nail right on the head:

"I love it.

It starts off with the iconic Orc Vs Human fight that we havn't seen since warcraft 3. Even after being shipwrecked, they're fighting in a foreign land, ignorant of it and destroying it in the process just to kill one another.

This brings the attention of Chen. So he breaks up the fight and only acts in defense while wearing them down in the process to the point that he can show the two their surroundings and make them realize where they now are.

He was pretty much saying "Hey! Quit fighting, calm down, and open your eyes to this new world instead of destroying it through blind hatred of one another!" but through combat and then bu pulling away the mists at the end.

Just brilliant. It's definitely up there with the other cinematic intros in it's own way"

Dev Watercooler: Scenarios

Originally Posted by Blizzard (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)
We recently began revealing the Scenarios you’ll experience at level 90 in World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria on our preview site. As the final tweaks are being made, we thought it would be a good time to sit down with Senior Game Designer Dave Maldonado and Game Designer Jonathan LeCraft for a little behind-the-scenes perspective on this unique new system.

Q: What do Scenarios bring to World of Warcraft that we haven't seen before?

Dave Maldonado: From a technological standpoint, almost everything in the system is new. Players are obviously going to see the World of Warcraft they know and love when they're running Scenarios, but all of the technology driving what we can do with Scenarios is new, and we took that as an opportunity to really indulge in new ways of interacting with the players, the NPCs, and the environment. It was a lot of work to design the technology, with a whole new UI, and new tracking systems and so forth, and while that programming was going on, we got to dream up and implement a lot of randomization and many new things for monsters to do and for the environment to do.

Jon LeCraft: With Scenarios, we can do even more than we could previously do with group quests, because even with phasing and all of our options in the outdoor world, there were a number of things that we still wanted to bring to the game. We can now change the environment and change the ways things spawn and change the behavior of enemies on the fly, and that opens up nearly infinite possibilities.

DM: My favorite example is the concept of a ship that you want to destroy by setting it on fire. So you could storm the ship, kill everyone on-board, and then burn it down. But what happens when you decide to sneak on to the ship, leave everyone alive, and set the fire while they're all standing around? In Scenarios, we have a lot of flexibility to imagine the different ways that players might choose to play, and have the NPCs and the environment react to that more naturally. The result is -- you're going to see all those NPCs on the ship jump off because it's on fire, and then look back at it in amazement. Other NPCs that were making deliveries to the ship before it became a floating inferno are going to react to the change in their world. Instead of trying to put the box that they're carrying on the boat, or despawning and disappearing before your eyes, or something else unrealistic, they're going to stop and gawk at the flames.

Q: We've seen Scenarios compared to dungeons a lot, yet you're comparing them to group quests. What aspects of Scenarios are like dungeons, and what aspects are like group quests, and what’s just new?

JL: For one, you're in a group and you start the Scenario by going into the Dungeon Finder, and if you aren't in a group, one will be provided for you. That's dungeon-like. Also, Scenarios have a boss at the end.

DM: The boss at the end brings everyone together.

JL: They're very different than the bosses you're used to, though, because Scenarios are designed to be completed by three characters of any spec.

DM: We're still tuning and discussing exactly how difficult Scenarios will be, but there are many major differences between Scenario bosses and dungeon bosses. Scenario bosses often can't be tanked, or tanking isn't very helpful. They can be easier than dungeon bosses, because they have to be feasible for three DPS players, but they can also be much more difficult than dungeon bosses, because they can have very high damage attacks that must be avoided by the players. These encounters aren't designed in a way that you can tank or heal through their massive attacks. You either pay attention to the signs that an attack is coming and avoid it, or you fail.

JL: Because there won't always be a certain number of interrupts, or a certain amount of aggro control or healing in a Scenario, these boss encounters rely on placement, timing, and pattern recognition.

DM: At the same time, there are many different things you can do to bosses in Scenarios. You can often crowd-control them, or stun them, or interrupt what they're doing. This would make them very easy to deal with in other circumstances, but they have a huge health pool and the ability to deal massive amounts of damage. Very few can be "tank-and-spanked."

Q: As World of Warcraft players, how would you describe the Scenario experience?

DM: Watching other players test Scenarios, and testing them ourselves, they’re really what I would call a “pure WoW” experience. They give you the option to do a lot more with your character than in other aspects of the game. In PvP, for instance, there isn’t a lot of room for experimenting, or using all of your spells, or even using most of your spells -- unless you want to get killed. In Scenarios, we see every class, every spec, and every style of play being viable. Furthermore, Scenarios are places where you get to experiment with how you move through the environment. There are all sorts of things you can skip, or choose to interact with that someone else might skip, and those decisions you make will have a noticeable impact on what happens next in that Scenario.

JL: I keep coming back to that. Choosing to interact with things is a constant in Scenarios. A huge ghost mob might be mind-controllable. An urn might be something that you can try to access, and it might drop a few gold for you while spawning a couple of mobs that you have to deal with.

Q: What’s coming next for this system?

DM: More Scenarios! We’ve got a lot of really cool ideas, and this is content that we hope to make even more of as we start producing post-expansion content patches.

You can check out feature pages on the Greenstone Village and A Brewing Storm Scenarios on our Mists of Pandaria website.

It's very important for players who feel that they may be eligible for Arena titles and/or the Cataclysmic Gladiator’s Twilight Drake to refrain from transferring their characters to another realm or faction until after Season 11 ends. The awarding of Season 11 titles and mounts will occur approximately 1 week after the season ends.

At the end of the season, Conquest Points will be converted to Honor Points, possibly exceeding the 4,000 point Honor cap. There will be no cap on Honor until Mists of Pandaria is released on September 25. At that time, any Honor accrued above the 4,000-point cap will be converted into gold at a rate of 35 copper per point.

All Season 11 items will cost Honor Points (equivalent to their previous Conquest Point cost) when the season ends, with the exception of any items with rating requirements attached. These items will no longer be available for purchase.

The next Arena and Rated Battleground season will begin for level-90 players approximately one week after Mists of Pandaria launches. During the break between seasons, all Rated Battleground and Arena matches will be unavailable. Matchmaking (MMR), Team, and Personal Ratings will all be wiped when Season 12 begins.

MVP Suggestion On The B.Net forums: Should Forum Bans Have Some Type Of Cross Over In Game?

Forum Poster: A blue needs to seriously see what this MVP is putting out and wanting done. Apparently A MVP is now trying to get Blizzard to make a major forum change to all of Blizzard Forums. The MVP is calling for a all across the board ban. Forum Bans in the eyes of the MVP now = game-time Ban. This MVP wants it across all Blizzard forums AND GAMES. This effects all wow players to if this MVP has his way.

MVP: "Ugh, I can see where this is heading and I don't want to get into another pseudo-lawyer discussion. =/

Long story short, I wish this would happen across all Blizzard games.

Blizzard wants to curb trolling right? That's the whole reason behind the horrible RealID on the forums stuff right?

Equate Forum Bans to Game Bans.

Problem solved.

trollface.jpg (No seriously, problem solved)"

Forum Poster: If this MVP has his way this could effect ALL OF you not just Diablo it is a all across blizzard game meaning wow and starcraft to.

Blue post: Please keep in mind that Blizzard forum MVPs are players expressing their personal views and opinions. If an MVP sincerely believes a different application of rules and terms would be ideal, they're welcome to express that opinion, provided they're posting within the confines of the forum Code of Conduct.

MVPs don't speak on behalf of Blizzard. Be sure to check out the stated goals and objectives of the MVP program for more information.

If you have any feedback about the way an MVP represents oneself on the forums, feel free to send it to us via )

I think this would be a great idea, i don't think people should be banned permanently in game for there actions on the forums but i do think some cross over should happen.
Its really hard despite Blues hard work to find constructive conversations with all the rubbish clogging up the tubes, something has needed to be done for years.

Make this happen blizz!

Thursday, August 9, 2012 Security Breached, No Financial Data Loss. (Change your Password)

Players and Friends,

Even when you are in the business of fun, not every week ends up being fun. This week, our security team found an unauthorized and illegal access into our internal network here at Blizzard. We quickly took steps to close off this access and began working with law enforcement and security experts to investigate what happened.

At this time, we've found no evidence that financial information such as credit cards, billing addresses, or real names were compromised. Our investigation is ongoing, but so far nothing suggests that these pieces of information have been accessed.

Some data was illegally accessed, including a list of email addresses for global users, outside of China. For players on North American servers (which generally includes players from North America, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia) the answer to the personal security question, and information relating to Mobile and Dial-In Authenticators were also accessed. Based on what we currently know, this information alone is NOT enough for anyone to gain access to accounts.

We also know that cryptographically scrambled versions of passwords (not actual passwords) for players on North American servers were taken. We use Secure Remote Password protocol (SRP) to protect these passwords, which is designed to make it extremely difficult to extract the actual password, and also means that each password would have to be deciphered individually. As a precaution, however, we recommend that players on North American servers change their password. Please click this link to change your password. Moreover, if you have used the same or similar passwords for other purposes, you may want to consider changing those passwords as well.

In the coming days, we'll be prompting players on North American servers to change their secret questions and answers through an automated process. Additionally, we'll prompt mobile authenticator users to update their authenticator software. As a reminder, phishing emails will ask you for password or login information. Blizzard Entertainment emails will never ask for your password. We deeply regret the inconvenience to all of you and understand you may have questions. Please find additional information here.

We take the security of your personal information very seriously, and we are truly sorry that this has happened.

Mists of Pandaria Beta - Glyph of Disguise (Rogue)

Thursday, August 2, 2012

Internet Spring continues its winning streak, 3-0 SOPA, ACTA and now Cybersecruty Act of 2012

"Regardless of today's vote, the issue of cybersecurity is far from dead," said Michelle Richardson, ACLU legislative counsel, in a statement. "When Congress inevitably picks up this issue again, the privacy amendments in this bill should remain the vanguard for any future bills. We'll continue to work with Congress to make sure that the government's cybersecurity efforts include privacy protections. Cybersecurity and our online privacy should not be a zero sum game."

Mists of Pandaria raids will have staggered release, First Raid Opening A Week After Launch.

I personally don't mind this to much.
Dawnwow a WoWInsider commenter made a very good point though:
From a quality of life perspective, this is awful for hardcore players. To stay competitive we'll have to gear and level as many alts as possible. The top top guilds will do that so they can stack any class that is favorable at the time they're working on whatever boss, and the guilds who want to compete with them will have to follow along.

Vaneras -- Raid Releases
We've been keeping a very close eye on the feedback players have shared for both Cataclysm and Mists of Pandaria raiding. We saw a lot of evidence and heard a lot of feedback which indicated that raid content was a little overwhelming at the beginning of Cataclysm. Our goal is to smooth that out a bit in Mists of Pandaria. Keep in mind, Mogu'shan Vaults opens up one week after Mists of Pandaria launches. And with its Heroic mode even the most seasoned raiders should be pretty busy. Once the raid dungeon has been cleared by a group on normal mode they'll unlock Heroic mode, a definite ramp up in challenge. Also note, similar to Dragon Soul, Raid Finder mode for Mogu'shan Vaults will be available about one week after the normal raid has been opened.

Rather than putting a lot of pressure on players by opening up sixteen raid bosses in three separate difficulties upon release of the expansion, we hope you'll have a chance to really dig into the lore, the gorgeous new continent, the amazing new quests, and all of the other goodies that are far too numerable to mention. Our intention here is not to artificially extend the life of the 5.0 content, but rather to pace it better than we have in previous releases. This is why we noted that a few weeks after Mogu'shan Vaults opens, raid instances Heart of Fear and Terrace of Endless Spring will become available. These dungeons will still very much be hot on the heels of Mogu'shan Vaults, particularly for the large majority of players progressing through Pandaria.

Here's a basic breakdown of the pattern we'd like to follow for all upcoming raids: Dungeon opens on normal difficulty -> Heroic mode is unlocked once normal mode is completed -> the Raid Finder version becomes available about one week after the raid's initial opening. To review all of the latest Mists raid release details, everyone is encouraged to check out our latest blog, Blizzard Insider #45 – Mists of Pandaria – Raid Preview, which has a wealth of exciting new information.

On a final note, thank you to everyone who has been testing the new content, sharing your feedback, and helping us bring you the most epic game possible! It cannot be said enough, but we genuinely appreciate it. =)

The Cybersecurity Act of 2012 Contact Your Representatives And Tell Them You Dont Wanna Be Spied On.

I know this is a wow site but this bill is bad. Remember SOPA/PIPA this is The Cybersecurity Act of 2012  another version of those bills but worse do you want your private email, cell phone and other private communications monitored at all times?

Does the NSA and the Government really need to know that i keep Facebook open at all times, do they really need to know that i just killed 20 alliance in Warcraft by listening in on my instant messages?
Do they really need to know that my girlfriend needs me to stop at the store to buy milk on the way home?

If you don't want to be spied on by your own government with out a warrant or any reason i urge you to contact (However you wish) your senators an tell them you oppose this bill, oppose any anti privacy amendments and oppose any other bills like it.

If you think this has nothing to do with controlling the internet and other digital spaces your wrong it gives corporations and the federal government broad new powers to monitor internet users, block access to websites and services, and share personal user information without due process.

We need to make sure that our support for the Franken-Paul Amendment is made clear however.
– this is the amendment that would remove the new affirmative authority for companies to engage in monitoring and countermeasures. We want to show our support for the Franken-Paul Amendment to ensure that, even if this bill fails, any future discussion of cybersecurity legislation begins from a place that has greater respect for our online privacy. So, please, call today and tell your senators that they must write down all three points, not just that you oppose the bill.
