Fire Hawks and Patch 4.1 Mounts/Pets

The first build of Patch 4.1 already added a couple of mount and companion pets to the game and it's time for a small update with models screenshots and a video of the fire hawk mounts!

Disclaimer - Public test content, not final. You whine about it, I punch you in the face. You whine on the official forums, I punch you in the face. You whine about it on my forums, I punch you in the face. Anything else will get you a warm hug.

Disclaimer #2 - Models might not be final. (Yes, this is the same as the first Disclaimer, but you won't read it because it's too long)

We don't really have a lot of information on drop locations but we know a few things:

  • Savage Raptor will be a WoW TCG reward but doesn't have any model for the moment.
  • Amani Dragonhawk is also included in this patch and is also supposed to be a WoW TCG Reward but doesn't look like it has any final model either.
  • Nightsaber Cub will be a WoW TCG rewards but other versions of the panther cubs will be available through questing/rare drops apparently.

Tin foil hat: Patch 4.2 - 5 man Karazhan

(Just a theory of course)

Of course im joking but I wouldn't be to surprised, go fly up to the top of Karazhan there's already a portal and a possible flight point there.
Found it on the beta when i was looking around one day.

At first i thought it was probably old, but you cant get there from the ground you have to fly there.
I passed it off as maybe they left it there from a old cancelled project, but now with all the remade stuff Old Ironforge, ZA and ZG this has a little more weight to it.

And it wouldn't be the first time new or old foe's have retaken a dungeon, hell they have already done it in this xpac, but they also did it in Warcraft: Night of the dragon no reason Blizzard wouldn't do something similar here.

There's also the fact that Kara is really popular, and there's unexplored dungeon's and catacomb's though why would the entrance be up top? It's anyone's guess just a theory i have had since beta.

Wowpedia say's it been there? Yes it has but so has Old Ironforge.

Not saying its new or old im just saying that with all the remade stuff this xpac i wouldn't be surprised if we see this used in the future.

One more point and then i am done here, they took out allot of other old unused stuff (The unused parts of the cancelled Desolace BG, and Tauren farm behind silthus come to mind of unused stuff that was removed) with the world remake aka Cataclysm just a theory but why wasn't this removed.

Again who knows for sure just kinda odd is all.

Patch 4.1 - Old Ironforge

This patch finally unlocks the Old Ironforge area of the dwarven capital, you will finally have a chance to walk around the area without having to exploit your way through the door! You will also find Magni in a petrified state following the events of the Cataclysm.

Patch 4.0.6 Hotfixes - February 25

Another wave of hotfixes has been deployed on live servers, apparently Blizzard decided to nerf a couple of raid encounters.

Im still not feeling well so here's some more patch 4.1 info brought to you by MMO-Champion
That and i'm just being lazy this week :P. My info would be pretty much the same give or take a few thing's anyway.

"Salamander Hunter" and Crimson Fire Hawk
The new model of Ragnaros was very popular yesterday, let's kick it up a notch with the model of Crimson Fire Hawk and a new monster, the "Salamander Hunter" (who looks a lot like Majordomo Executus).

More to come soon.

Patch 4.1 on PTR - Zul'aman and Zul'gurub are back!
Patch 4.1 is hitting the PTRs and is full of surprises!
That's right, folks. Development on the first major content patch for World of Warcraft: Cataclysm is well underway! We're currently making preparations to bring some of the initial content and updates we've been working on for this patch to the Public Test Realms. So you ask, "what will we find in the first 4.1 test client?" (You did ask that, right?) Well, let me tell you!

The Gurubashi Tribe Persists

Originally a 20-player dungeon released in patch 1.7, Zul'Gurub will once again open its gates, featuring updated lore, all-new encounters, achievements, and improved loot! Zul'Gurub is now a level-85 five-player Heroic difficulty dungeon. To provide a new tier above the current Cataclysm dungeons, players can expect to find epic-quality item level 353 loot. The minimum average item level to enter this Heroic dungeon is 346.

The Return of Zul'Aman

Ever a player favorite, the level-70 ten-player dungeon of Zul'Aman is being reintroduced as a level-85 Heroic five-player dungeon. Zul'Aman will join Zul'Gurub in a new Dungeon Finder tier of Heroic dungeons, providing epic-quality item level 353 loot. The minimum average item level to enter this Heroic dungeon is also 346. While Zul'Aman will be more of a throwback to the original dungeon featuring many of the same encounters, players can expect to find some updated gameplay mechanics, as well as new environment textures and lighting.

With the Zuls returning, you may be wondering about the unique mounts that were once contained therein. We're pleased to announce that new versions of the rare raptor, tiger, and bear mounts will be available, while the old versions of these mounts will remain unique to those who already have them. We'll reveal more about how these updated mounts can be obtained in the future.

Class Design
While we do intend to make fewer balance changes in patch 4.1, you can still expect to find a fair number of updates. Below are just a few we'd like to share with you right now. Keep in mind these changes don't encompass the entirety of the 4.1 changes, nor do the initial Public Test Realm patch notes.

To start, we want to do a better job of balancing the AoE power of the different damage-dealing specs. You can expect to see some changes to this end made throughout the testing process.

Inner Rage is now available at level 56. It was intended to solve an excess rage problem that largely isn’t affecting warriors anymore. We’ve added a replacement ability for warriors at level 83: Rallying Cry.

Colossus Smash now ignores 70% of an opponent's armor, down from 100%. We are compensating Fury and Arms warriors by increasing the damage of other attacks.

Word of Glory: We want Retribution and Protection paladins to have reasonable healing on themselves or others, but we know paladins sometimes feel like they can’t use their Holy Power on anything but their heals in some situations. We’d rather these two specs spend most of their Holy Power on damage-dealing abilities, with occasional healing.

More To Come

We're still hard at work on additional features, balance updates, and bug fixes for patch 4.1. We look forward to sharing more information with you in the days and weeks ahead as we release new content on the Public Test Realms. Until then, have a look at the patch notes we've prepared thus far. As always, these notes are not final and will continue to change as we go through the iterative development and testing processes.

Retribution

  • Sacred Shield's internal cooldown has been increased to 60 seconds, up from 30.

Shaman (Forums / Cataclysm Talent Calculator / Skills/Talents)
  • Fire Nova has been redesigned and decoupled from shaman Fire totems. Instead, it now pulses that same area-of-effect from each target that is afflicted by the shaman's own Flame Shock debuff. It now damages all enemies except the target hit by Flame Shock. The ability's cooldown has been reduced from 4 seconds, down from 10.
  • Magma Totem now lasts for 60 seconds, up from 21.
  • Stoneclaw Totem's area-of-effect threat pulse no longer affects critters.

Enhancement
  • Improved Fire Nova has been redesigned and replaced by a talent called Seasoned Winds. When an enemy spell cast is successfully prevented with Wind Shear or Grounding Totem, the shaman gains magical resistance (in an amount equal to what a protection totem/aura would grant, stacking with such buffs) to the spell school(s) of the interrupted spell (except for Holy spells), lasting 10 seconds.

  • Charge and Intercept no longer have diminishing returns on their stun effects.
  • Colossus Smash now ignores 70% of an opponent's armor, down from 100%.
  • Inner Rage is now available at level 56.
  • Intercept now has a 1.5-second stun, down from 3 seconds.
  • Overpower damage has been increased to 140% weapon damage, up from 125%.
  • Rallying Cry (new ability) is available from trainers at level 83. It temporarily grants the warrior and all party or raid members within 30 yards 20% of maximum health for 10 seconds. After the effect expires, the health is lost. It has no cost, no stance requirements, and is not on the global cooldown. It has a 3-minute cooldown, but also shares a cooldown with Last Stand.
  • Whirlwind now has its cooldown reduced by 6 seconds when it deals damage to 4 or more targets. The Whirlwind effect caused by Bladestorm remains unchanged.

Arms
  • Improved Hamstring now reduces the global cooldown on Hamstring by 0.5/1 seconds in addition to its current effects.
  • Improved Slam increases Slam damage by 20/40%, up from 10/20%.
  • Juggernaut no longer adds 2 seconds to the Charge stun, but instead lowers the cooldown of Charge by 3 seconds (to 12 seconds total).

Zul'aman and Zul'gurub are back!
Tons of changes indicate that Zul'aman and Zul'gurub are back as 5-man instances! I couldn't find anything about the Abyssal Maw dungeon mentioned briefly during Blizzcon for the moment, but Firelands seems there too.

Possible In Game Hotfix/patch note list Notice Coming In The Future

I'd like to vent a little of the frustration of things being done this way.

Not everyone "studies" WoW, and they come to guild leadership to explain why things are changing. When tooltips say one thing, but the spell does another, they are baffled if they don't do offline reading. This leads to certain people -- usually ones with low playtime, but plenty of time to read the websites and learn current events -- being inundated with questions and expected to explain what all happened.

Please, at the very least put a notice on the login screen as you do with maintenance notices to at least let people know that another round of hotfixes are happening and to check the community site. Doesn't have to be super detailed, just that more hotfixes went live. There needs to be some in-gem notification system, even if extremely basic.

Blue Poster: Agree. That was something we specifically discussed and probably should have included in my post. Expecting people to alt-tab to read a potentially updated blog isn't right. We don't have any great solutions for that yet, but it of course makes hotfixes infinitely more confusing and even potentially damaging to the play experience without some kind of in game communication. We haven't figured out what that might be yet. It's something we're concerned with too. Although we expect hotfixes to slow down substantially at this point, we need a solution for the future.

February 19 - Hotfix notes? Nah Just A Clarification

Although not big for most of us i think hunters would like to know this:
  • Classes
    • Hunters
      • The changes to Aimed Shot and Aspect of the Hawk announced yesterday have not yet been applied to live realms and should not go into effect until after the holiday weekend.

February 18
Battlegrounds
  • Demolishers were respawning too quickly in Strand of the Ancients. They are now on a 20-second spawn timer.

Death Knight (Forums / Cataclysm Talent Calculator / Skills/Talents)
  • Death knight Ghouls under the effects of Dark Transformation can no longer cast Gnaw while it's on cooldown.

Hunter (Forums / Cataclysm Talent Calculator / Skills/Talents)
  • Aimed Shot damage has been decreased to approximately 160% weapon damage (at level 80+), down from 200%.
  • Aspect of the Hawk now provides around an additional 2000 attack power at level 85.

Paladin (Forums / Cataclysm Talent Calculator / Skills/Talents)
  • Light of Dawn no longer heals targets outside the paladin's party or raid. It correctly heals up to 5 targets in the paladin's raid.

Priest (Forums / Cataclysm Talent Calculator / Skills/Talents)
  • Body and Soul no longer reduces the mana cost of Power Word: Shield (the hotfix made on February 16 to provide this additional benefit has been reverted).
  • Rapture now returns 2/5/7% of maximum mana when Power Word: Shield is consumed, up from 2/4/6%.

Warlock (Forums / Cataclysm Talent Calculator / Skills/Talents)
  • Instant-cast Shadowbolts from Shadow Trance (both the talent and Glyph of Corruption versions) should no longer consume charges of Backdraft if both procs are available. Shadow Trance will always take priority and be consumed first when Backdraft is active. Subsequent Shadowbolts will consume Backdraft stacks.

Warrior (Forums / Cataclysm Talent Calculator / Skills/Talents)
  • Two-Handed Weapon Specialization (Arms passive) now gives 20% bonus damage with two-handed weapons, up from 10%.

Dungeon Finder
  • If a party member remains outside of a dungeon for more than 3 minutes, they become eligible for removal, regardless of other Vote Kick restrictions.
  • When players queue as a group with a tank or a healer, and the tank or healer drops group (or is kicked) within the first 5 minutes, all of the other players who queued with them are removed from the group as well.
  • If there is a group of 3 or more friends and someone in that group initiates a Vote Kick of a random party member, it now requires 4 votes to kick the player, instead of the standard 3 votes.
  • The penalty for using the Vote Kick feature too often is not issued to a player who kicks someone with whom they queued for a dungeon (i.e. the party member being selected for removal is not a player randomly selected via the Dungeon Finder).
  • The penalty for using the Vote Kick feature too often will be issued much more quickly to players who join as a party of 4 and kick the randomly selected 5th player.
  • The penalty for using the Vote Kick feature too often will now not allow the player to initiate a Vote Kick for 2 hours, up from 45 minutes.
  • These changes will require realm restarts to take effect. More information can be found here.

Dungeons & Raids
  • When switching a normal raid dungeon over to Heroic difficulty, players were instantly becoming saved without warning. There is now a warning dialog box which will appear before the difficulty is changed.

Incoming Healer Changes

Priests

The cost of Power Word: Shield is being increased by 33%. While we wanted Discipline priests to be able to utilize this spell more often and with better results, we also did not want it to be the main spell (and often the only spell) used while in groups. We don’t find this to be a particularly compelling playstyle and have found that it encourages players to avoid using other spells such as Penance. We believe that using a shield in a tight moment is totally appropriate, but we don’t want it to be incredibly efficient to do so with more frequency than that.

We realize that by making Power Word: Shield slightly more expensive for Discipline priests to cast that it might cause Holy priests to avoid using it. To that end, we are adding mana savings into the Body and Soul talent. The tooltip will not reflect this change until a future patch, however. Ideally, Holy priests should not notice much of a change to the Power Word: Shield costs.

Shaman

We are also applying a hotfix for Purification for the Restoration shaman passive from 10% to 25%. We think that shaman healing per second is not as competitive with other healers and while we hoped to bring down Holy priest and Holy paladins (in particular) in 4.0.6, which we did, shaman still appear to be behind. In this case, it is simply easier to buff Restoration shaman rather than nerf everyone else or rebalance the encounters.

In Addition- Restoration Druids and Restoration Shaman

We agree with the sentiment among some players that Restoration druids and Restoration shaman are lacking in the healing cooldown department. The shaman buff and Power Word: Shield adjustment above should bring all healers reasonably close in terms of throughput. The decision on who to bring then might end up being dictated by the strong cooldowns offered by paladins or priests. This isn’t the kind of thing we can address via a hotfix, but it is something we are looking at for the next major content patch.

As always, we appreciate your continued constructive feedback and will do our best to keep you informed of ongoing developments.

 My Thought's:

Yay more resto druid love in the future i already do crazy healing as it is hehe - we could use more CD's though we only have 1 not counting tree form cause hell that's barely a CD

Happy for resto shaman they needed this bad, we have a okay geared one she does like 6k hps less than me, im pretty well geared but still not good to be doing 6k hps in a 10 man with mostly heroic gear and some purples when every other healer is doing twice that in comparable gear.

No one cares about preists anyway right? No but really they dont want any spammy healers anymore disc was becoming a spam fest again so that's why they needed to change PW:S again it happened with resto druids as well that's why rejuv is 20% base mana instead of the hotfixed 16% it was pre patch.
You might have thought it was fun, but that's not balanced compared to the rest of the healers.
In wrath they balanced healing around spamming your most efficient heal which was PW:S or rejuv for resto druids now its more about skill sorry guys that's the way its gonna be this xpac.

LearntoRaid's Cho'gall Strategy Guide (25 Normal)

Posting this cause it a awesome guide and this is the strat we will be using when we face Cho'gall again tonight.
We got him to 49% our first night trying (Last night) we only gave it 4 attempts for time reasons.
Yes the guide say 25 man but most of the same rules and mechanics apply for 10 man except there only 2 players that get transformed instead of 3.

February 11 (Patch 4.0.6a)

General
  • Players are no longer encountering errors when having their items bid on in the Auction House. The Auctions tab also updates appropriately reflecting the bid.
  • The South Island Iced Tea recipe no longer awards credit toward the Set the Oven to "Cataclysmic" or Time To Open A Restaurant guild achievements.
  • Players can now Ignore other characters from different realms or battlegroups when queuing for Battlegrounds or dungeons using the command: /ignore playername-servername(region). Note that the user interface Ignore function and "/ignore playername" command still do not work correctly for players on different battlegroups and will require a future patch to correct.
  • Releasing one's spirit after dying while on a transport or in a vehicle should no longer cause the player to disconnect.

Classes
Death Knight (Forums / Cataclysm Talent Calculator / Skills/Talents)
  • Death's Advance may now not allow movement-impairing effects to reduce the death knight below 60/75% of normal movement speed, down from 75/100%.
  • Death and Decay no longer damages the death knight's currently selected friendly target when it does damage to nearby target dummies.

Druid (Forums / Cataclysm Talent Calculator / Skills/Talents)
  • Starfall no longer exceeds 20 stars within its duration.
  • Moonfury (Balance druid passive) now increases Arcane and Nature damage by 10%, down from 15%. More information can be found here.
  • Mangle (Bear) and Maul (Bear) damage has been increased by approximately 10%.
  • Frost Nova, Tranquility, War Stomp, and Starfire are all properly scaled when used by or on a druid in Tree of Life form. The previous temporary hotfix which removed the ability to use War Stomp while in Tree of Life form has been reverted.

Hunter (Forums / Cataclysm Talent Calculator / Skills/Talents)
  • Auto Shot was not firing while the hunter was moving under certain conditions. Auto Shot should now always function correctly while the hunter is moving.
  • Having a melee weapon equipped no longer causes the tooltips for Cobra Shot and Steady Shot to incorrectly display extra benefit from haste.
  • The cooldown for Master's Call has been increased to 45 seconds, up from 35. In addition, it can now be dispelled.
  • The Warp Stalker ability Time Warp can no longer be used on paladins with the Divine Shield buff active.

Mage (Forums / Cataclysm Talent Calculator / Skills/Talents)
  • The Quad Core buff provided by the Sanctified Bloodmage 4-piece set bonus is now properly removed as soon as a spell is cast if the mage does not have 4 pieces of the set equipped.

Paladin (Forums / Cataclysm Talent Calculator / Skills/Talents)
  • Beacon of Light no longer triggers from Light of Dawn.
  • Glyph of Dazing Shield correctly causes Avenger's Shield to daze the target, and only allows Avenger's Shield to trigger the dazed effect.
  • The area-of-effect attack of Hammer of the Righteous no longer has a chance to miss secondary targets when the primary attack hits the paladin's target. If the primary attack of Hammer of the Righteous fails to hit the target due to miss/dodge/parry/block, no enemies will be affected by the area-of-effect attack. Rogues who are under Cloak of Shadows, however, are able to resist this damage.
  • The Warp Stalker ability Time Warp can no longer be used on paladins with the Divine Shield buff active.

Priest (Forums / Cataclysm Talent Calculator / Skills/Talents)
  • Inner Focus can no longer be cast before the effect of its preceding spell completes (Inner Focus will only be applied to spells that are cast after it).
  • Shadow Power (Shadow priest passive) now increases Shadow damage by 15%, down from 25%. More information can be found here.
  • Sin and Punishment now works properly when two players of the same faction are fighting each other (including in Arenas). A string error may appear when the opponent is feared even though the talent functions correctly.

Rogue (Forums / Cataclysm Talent Calculator / Skills/Talents)
  • Combat Readiness now triggers from all ranged attacks.
  • Gouge is now breaking properly from spell and ability damage.

Warlock (Forums / Cataclysm Talent Calculator / Skills/Talents)
  • All raid bosses are now properly immune to Suffering (Voidwalker taunt ability).

Warrior (Forums / Cataclysm Talent Calculator / Skills/Talents)
  • Raging Blow has been reduced from 120% to 100% weapon damage at max level. More information can be found here.

Dungeons & Raids
Bastion of Twilight
  • The Elementium Monstrosity's health now more accurately reflects the state of the individual Ascendants.

Blackwing Descent
  • Drakeadon Mongrels can now be taunted.
  • The debuff from Pyreclaw's Flame Buffet now only lasts 8 seconds.
  • The Golem Sentry's Flash Bomb damage has been reduced in the 25-player version.
  • The health of Drakeadon Mongrels and Drakonid Slayers has been reduced in 10- and 25-player versions.
  • Nefarian's Blazing Inferno damage and knockdown radius has been reduced to match the spell effect graphic.

Items
  • Some Vicious Gladiator's weapons (item level 359) incorrectly had their costs increased. This has been corrected. Two-hand and ranged weapons now cost 3400 Conquest Points, while one-hand and caster weapons now cost 2450 Conquest Points.
  • All Vicious Gladiator's weapons (item level 372) have been temporarily removed from the Glorious Conquest Quartermasters until the time is right to officially introduce them into Azerothian society.

PvP
  • Many items incorrectly rendered unusable in rated Battlegrounds and Arenas have been made usable again.

Battlegrounds
  • Players should no longer sometimes gets stuck in the world and unable to login upon completing a rated Battleground.
  • Under certain conditions after queuing for Battlegrounds, players were still able to enter the Dungeon Finder queue. While this made it appear as though players were not actually queued properly for Battlegrounds, that wasn't the case. This issue has been fixed so that players cannot queue for both Battlegrounds and via the Dungeon Finder under these select circumstances.

Battle for Gilneas
  • The banners at each capture point now take 8 seconds to capture, up from 5. Note that when the banners are neutral and have not yet been captured by either faction at the start of a battle, they will display the wrong location names (Mine says Farm, Waterworks says Blacksmith, and Lighthouse says Stables).

Races
  • Gift of the Naaru now has a maximum limit to the amount healed when used on friendly NPCs with large amounts of health.
